Renovations & Re-roof - Oakworth Keighley

The client had purchased this Grade II listed building, which was in need of some restoration. After removing the plaster from the walls in the kitchen-dining room we uncovered the original stone fireplace, which had been boarded over for many years! The client was delighted to have the option of installing a multi fuel stove. The original staircase, which would have been built over 100 years ago, was beyond repair so we had a handcrafted bespoke timber staircase made and fitted. Due to the property being listed we had to repair, rather than replace the existing stone heads and cills at first and second floor windows. As with all properties it is critical to keep the roof in good repair – in this case we stripped off the existing stone slates and replaced the damaged, removed the old laths & felt then replaced with highest grade roof laths and breathable felt, alongside treating the roof timbers with a spray preservative.

Scope of work:

  • Removal of lath and plaster ceilings from downstairs kitchen/dining room
  • Removal and replacement of staircase
  • Restoration of original fireplace
  • Installation of wood burning stove & chimney flue
  • Repair of stone window heads and cills
  • Re-roof including new laths & felt
