Michael has done a brilliant job with all the work undertaken on our property: removing a load-bearing wall and installing a 6m RSJ, creating a 7ft opening in another wall to install bi-fold doors, blocking up an external door with local stone facing, replacing a damaged lintel above an upstairs window plus extensive plastering.
Right from the start we knew Michael was the right man for the job. When he came to quote he was very friendly, knew exactly what was needed to do to complete our work and also came up with some good ideas. His quote was very clear and he let us know the dates he would be able to do the work.
That great communication continued throughout the job, with regular updates on progress, work still to do, decisions we needed to make, things we needed to do etc.
Even though we added to the work to be done, Michael was very flexible, gave us updated quotes and found time to fit us in. All the invoices were as per the quotes and broken down between materials and labour.
On top of all that, it's Michael's great attention to detail that sets him apart. The bullnose finishing on the plastering on a block pillar he built, and into the window reveals where he re-plastered, looks great and mirrors finishing elsewhere in the house. Something we didn't ask for, but it makes such a difference.
We really can't speak highly enough of Michael. The quality of his work, how he kept everything clean and tidy and above all how easy he is to talk to, made some very disruptive work as stress-free as possible.

I have known Michael for over 2 years as he was the project manager / foreman for my new house build. All the time I found Michael to be honest, trustworthy, organised, dependable, hard working and conscientious. Michael could be relied upon to carry out tasks asked of him, always completing them to an excellent standard and ahead of timescales expected. Michael is multi-skilled and demonstrated his ability to learn and undertake works that he was unfamiliar with.
After moving into our new house it quickly became apparent that our bathroom required a major overhaul. We wanted a modern, minimalist bathroom with more natural light and a separate shower, although we were prepared to compromise on the shower as we didn't think there was enough space. Michael quickly pointed out dead space in the corridor leading up to the bathroom and came up with a great plan of how we could rework the whole space. His recommended plumber removed the old boiler and installed a new one into the basement, resulting in the wasted space being transformed into a walk-in wet room.
The works involved in this type of renovation were pretty huge, Michael removed all of the old latt and plaster from the walls, took down and replaced the ceiling, fixed some leaking roof tiles, laid new installation, installed a new velux window, removed and walled up the old window and then plastered throughout. After consulting with the plumber they even decided to fit a new floor to assist with the draining from the wet room! Everything was so well planned and although there was a lot of mess and dust it was always clean and tidy by the end of every day. The results speak for themselves – we have visitors just to see the bathroom now, it's beyond our expectations!
We contacted a few local builders to quote on relaying our old patio and garden path. Michael provided a detailed quote, which included repairing and reusing the wrought iron fence, which would save us money rather than replacing with new. We were really pleased with the end result – the patio now provides us with a great entertaining / BBQ area which we will enjoy over summer!
We met Mike over 2 years ago when he did some plastering following the re-wiring of our house. Despite the relatively small task he carried out then, we noticed how meticulous & keen he was about his work. We kept Mike's number & when we decided to move on to bigger projects in the house, hoped that he would help us out.
In our opinion he has gone above and beyond expectations, and has actually project managed our renovations for us. Mike has recommended and organised other good (and most importantly, reliable & trustworthy) tradesmen. One of the things we were dreading about having so many changes to our house was timing - when to get the right person in at the right time. Mike took control of this for us (really important when you work full time yourself!); and in most cases arranged for people to come to us when it suited us.
Mike carried out all the construction changes in our house & each day always made sure the house was clean and safe before going off site. We now have a fantastic kitchen double the size of when we moved in, without losing any 'living' space.

Mike worked alongside our gardener to redevelop our outside living area, and we are thrilled with the outcome! The deck has created a flexible extension to our home and along with the clever seating which doubles up as storage we couldn't have asked for more. Mike always arrived on time and ensured that he tidied away at the end of everyday – he even made sure the gates were secure each time he went to his van so that our dog didn't escape!
